Flowers: rose with paler shades and faint purple spotting in throat.

Introduced: 1820 by Wallich from Nepal (the species).
Distribution: Himalayas from Kashmir, Nepal and Sikkim to Bhutan and Assam
Recognise by: distinctive bullate foliage with white, fawn or brown indumentum (the var.); the flowers (the clone).
Epithet: tree like
One of the best of many excellent variations of this stately species. Needs a site protected from cold winds.
